Protruding Blooms Brooch, 2012
resin, acrylic, silver, rigid photopolymer, smokey quartz, cz
5.25” x 2.75” x 1.25”
A shy little piece, the blooms in this brooch peek open as if testing the world outside. The petals, sensitive to light and the movement of the sun, slowly protrude like many other flowering forms; twisting out of their nightly coils to reveal dewy, glassy insides. The spiraled tendrils wrap around cloth to pinch and hold steady, allowing the growth to continue budding.
